The Medicine Wheel, also known as the Sacred Hoop, has been used for health and healing by generations of Native American tribes. It represents the Four Directions, as well as Father Sky, Mother Earth, and Spirit Tree, which all represent different aspects of health and life cycles. The Medicine Wheel is interpreted differently by different cultures. Each of the Four Directions (East, South, West, and North) is usually symbolized by a separate color, such as black, red, yellow, or white, which represents the human races for some.
